FLAG

The flag of the Central African Republic is, along with the anthem (La Renaissance) and the coat of arms, one of the main symbols of the country. It was adopted on December 1, 1958 and designed by Barthélemy Boganda, the first president of the autonomous territory of Ubangui-Chari, who thought that "France and Africa should walk together". Thus he combined the red, white and blue colors of the French tricolor with the Pan-African colors: red, green and yellow.

The red color symbolizes the blood of the Central African people, which was shed to give them independence and which they shed to defend their country, the blue color represents the sky and freedom, the white color represents peace and dignity, the green color represents hope and faith, the yellow color represents tolerance and the yellow star of independence symbolizes a bright future.
