FLAG
The flag of the Arab Republic of Egypt is a tricolor consisting of three equal red, white and black horizontal bands based on the Arab Liberation Flag of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. In the center of the middle band is the Eagle of Saladin, the national symbol of Egypt since 1952, and an emblem of Arab nationalism that also serves as the national symbol of Iraq, Palestine, and Yemen, and previously of the United Arab Republic, North and South Yemen, and the Libyan Arab Republic.

The Egyptian Free Officers who overthrew King Farouk in the 1952 Revolution assigned specific symbolism to each of the three bands of the revolutionary and liberation flag. The red band symbolizes the blood of the Egyptians in the war against colonization. The white band symbolizes the purity of the heart of the Egyptians. The black band below the white symbolizes the way in which darkness is overcome.
The flag of the Revolution and Liberation of Egypt was then an inspiration for various Arab countries and was adopted by many Arab states. The same horizontal tricolor is used by Iraq, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen (and earlier Libya), the only difference being the presence (or absence) of distinctive national emblems on the white band.

SHIELD
The coat of arms of Egypt was adopted in 1958 during the formation of the United Arab Republic. It is a golden sable eagle that holds on its chest a shield with the colors of the national flag placed on a stick. The eagle rests on a ribbon on which the official name of Egypt can be read, written in Arabic using Kufic calligraphy.
The figure (the support in heraldic terminology) of the eagle, called the Eagle of Saladin, has a design based on a carving in the shape of this bird of prey sculpted on a wall in Cairo. The use of the eagle in emblems of the Arab world is relatively recent, and is currently also used by Iraq and Palestine (both the State and the Palestinian Authority, although in different colors). Previously it was also used by Libya and Yemen (which later changed it to the Quraysh falcon – another emblem of the Arab world).
