HISTORY
The first flag of the Congo was raised in 1877 by the International African Association of King Leopold II of Belgium, which was made up of a blue cloth with a yellow five-pointed star in the center, and which was supposedly designed by the famous explorer Henry Morton. Stanley, representing the light of civilization lighting up Black Africa. This design was maintained, after the Belgian possession of the Congo Free State was officially recognized at the Berlin Conference.
