The meaning of the colors is discussed. Some opinions hold that white represents silver, while the light blue stripes may represent the sky and the waters of the Río de la Plata. Others consider that the colors represent the mantle of the Virgin Mary, in her dedication to the Immaculate Conception.
The truth is that it was expressly inspired by the rosette created days before and that it wore the light blue and white colors of the Spanish House of Bourbon, in turn taken from the mantle of the Immaculate Conception.
The sun in the center, added by the Congress of Tucumán, represents the Inca sun god, Inti. This vindicated the disappeared Tahuantinsuyu, seen by the patriots as an antecedent of their freedom, and was related to the project of crowning a descendant of the Incas as sovereign of the United Provinces.

SHIELD
It was officially approved on March 12, 1813 by the General Constituent Assembly of that year.
The elliptical shape of the body of this shield corresponds to the upper profile view of a human head since a laurel wreath is placed on it. Such shield is divided into two fields: the upper half is light blue and the lower half is white.
Other symbols are added to this basal design. The twinning of the Río de La Plata Unit Provinces is attributed to the human forearms that shake their hands; the Phrygian cap directed to the left symbolizes freedom and is supported by both hands from a symmetrical vertical pike in the middle of the fields, which symbolizes the commitment of the provinces to defend freedom. The shield is crowned by a rising sun figured with 21 alternating straight and flaming rays that symbolizes the birth of the new nation. The Laurea (or laurels) arranged as crowning the head of every citizen represent the victory and triumph in the achievement of independence. Finally, the bow-shaped ribbon represents the Argentine nationality.
