FLAG
The national flag of Guinea was adopted on November 10, 1958, with the publication of the country's first Constitution.
The colors of the flag were adapted from those of the Rassemblement Démocratique Africain, the dominant movement at the time of independence. The colors, in turn, were derived from those of the flag of Ghana, which first adopted them in 1957. Sékou Touré, the first president of Guinea, was a close associate of Kwame Nkrumah, the former president of Ghana.

National flag
Ratio: 2 x 3

According to Sékou Touré, the first president of Guinea, the three colors of the flag represent the following: red symbolizes the blood of the anti-colonial martyrs, the work of the working classes and the desire for progress; yellow represents Guinean gold, as well as the sun, which is "a source of energy, generosity and equality for all men to whom it gives light equally"; and green represents the vegetation of the country, the continuing prosperity that stems from its natural resources, and the historically difficult life of the Guinean masses living in the countryside. In turn, the symbolism behind each of the three colors corresponds to the three components of the national motto: "Travail, Justice, Solidarité" ( "Work, Justice, Solidarity" ).

Below the shield, crossed in a stick with the pan-African colors of the state flag: gules (red), gold (yellow) and sinople (green). At the bottom is a ribbon with the national motto in French: "TRAVAIL, JUSTICE, SOLIDARITÉ" (Work, Justice, Solidarity).
