FLAG
The flag of Spain, known as the rojigualda, was adopted as the national flag of Spain in 1785 and has been the national flag ever since, except for the years of the Second Republic (1931-1939), when it was replaced by another standard. The shield, which is included in the current flag, in some cases regulated by Law 39/1981, which regulates its use, has undergone several modifications throughout history.

The 1978 Constitution specified in its article 4.1:
"The flag of Spain is made up of three horizontal stripes, red, yellow and red, the yellow being twice as wide as each of the red ones."
On October 28, 1981, Law 39/1981 on the use of the flag of Spain and other flags and ensigns, says in its article 2.2: "In the yellow stripe it may be incorporated, in the manner that is indicated by regulation, the shield of Spain".
It must be taken into account that there is no constitutional coat of arms, but rather a constitutional flag, which is the flag without a coat of arms, since the Coat of Arms of Spain does not appear in the Constitution, but rather in a later law.
The shield of Spain is regulated by Law 33/1981, of October 5, and by Royal Decree 2964/1981, of December 18, which also specifies the position of the shield on the flag.
According to the aforementioned regulations, the Spanish flag will have the following characteristics:
- The flag is made up of three horizontal stripes, red, yellow and red, the yellow being double the width of each of the red ones. This arrangement is known as the Spanish strip.
- The flag may incorporate the coat of arms of Spain, but its incorporation is only mandatory in the cases provided for by regulation.
- The shield will have a height of two fifths of the width of the flag and will appear on both sides of the flag in the center of the yellow stripe.
- When the flag has the normal proportion, with a length equal to 3/2 of the width, the axis of the shield will be placed at a distance from the sheath of half the width of the flag. If the length is less than normal or the flag has a square shape, the shield will be placed in the center of the flag.

ROYAL STANDARD
The banner of the King of Spain is the personal ensign of the Spanish monarch. The version currently in force was adopted on June 19, 2014 and approved by Royal Decree 527/2014, of June 20, which creates the Script and the Standard of His Majesty King Felipe VI and modifies the Regulation of Flags and Banners, Scripts, Badges and Distinctives, approved by Royal Decree 1511/1977, of January 21.
This banner consists of a square-shaped crimson cloth in which the monarch's arms are embroidered in its central part and on both sides. Along with some changes introduced in the coat of arms, the traditional color used by the Spanish monarchs was restored, which had been replaced by purple during the reigns of Isabel II and her successors. and dark blue during that of Juan Carlos I. The proportions of the coat of arms with respect to the background were also increased compared to the previous version, introducing those established in 2001 for the personal ensigns of the heir.

STANDARD OF THE PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS
The banner of the Princess of Asturias is the personal ensign of the heir to the Spanish Crown.
The banner and the script are regulated in Royal Decree 979/2015, which modifies Title II of Royal Decree 1511/1977, Regulation of Flags and Banners, Scripts, Badges and Distinctives.
The standard consists of a blue cloth, the color of the flag of the Principality of Asturias, although the color code is lighter and similar to light blue. However, in the very image of the consolidated text of the Flag Regulation, and in practice, a tone similar to that of the Asturian flag has been maintained. This ensign is square in shape, on which the coat of arms of the Princess of Asturias appears embroidered in its central part and on both sides. The size of the sides of the banner and its material are the same as those used in the banner of the Spanish monarch.
